Sanford obtained the Molecule Man's wand after if was given to him by the Thing after he determined it was non-functional. Sanford decides to pretend to be the Molecule Man with his friends Cynthia (Iron Girl) and Boyd. Despite the wand's supposed non functional status it is activated and when Cynthia touches it she is transformed from a child into a fully grown woman. She has the Molecule Man's facial markings and a personality that is a mix between her own and the Molecule Man. Cynthia goes back into town and turns her mother into a doll. Iron Man shows up, and the Molecule Man/Cynthia fight him, then leave. Later, they clash again. Cynthia drops the wand and returns to normal. Iron Man eventually gets the wand, and Reece almost takes him over, before the Man-Thing takes it away. Since the Man-Thing has no mind, the Molecule Man can't possess it.
